'Clasp' strips back the familiar, twee image of little birds sitting together on a branch, often seen in cartoons and greetings cards, to a single, visual component.

I wanted to highlight the action of claws, and the tension in that constricting movement. Their tight grip around the branch as its buffeted in the wind. 

This image renders the presence of the rest of the bird unnecessary, the allusion is enough. 

'Clasp' was sculpted by hand in wax, before being cast into bronze.
